Women's Art Therapy Group
Facilitated by Becky Cady, MA, ATR
8-Week Women’s Art Therapy Group
Group meets every Thursday from 10:00 - 11:30am starting May 7, 2026
Art Therapy can be an immeasurably powerful and unique experience. By putting words to our images, we are connecting both sides of the brain, cognitive and creative.
This 8-week women’s art therapy group offers a supportive, confidential space to explore emotions, personal identity, and inner experiences through guided creative expression. Designed for adults ages 18 and up, this closed group meets weekly for 1.5 hours and is capped at 10 participants to ensure a safe, intimate, and meaningful group experience.
No art experience is necessary. The focus is not on artistic skill, but on process, self-reflection, and emotional insight. Each session is thoughtfully structured and led by a credentialed art therapist, combining gentle discussion, creative exercises, and opportunities for personal sharing at your own comfort level.
Over the course of eight weeks, participants will engage in a progression of art therapy directives that build self-awareness, emotional literacy, and personal insight. Themes include identity, boundaries, emotional expression, and inner balance, using a variety of materials such as mixed media, collage, oil pastels, and drawing tools. Writing exercises are also incorporated as reflective openers in select sessions.
Weekly themes include:
-
Establishing safety and confidentiality
-
Identity exploration and self-perception
-
Emotional mapping and expression
-
Polarity and inner balance
-
Symbolism through imagery such as houses and trees
-
Intuitive mark-making and stream-of-consciousness creation
This group is ideal for women seeking personal growth, emotional processing, stress relief, or a deeper connection to themselves through creativity. All materials are provided with a one-time materials fee.
